Energy Plus High Oil Characteristics
With the idea of High Oil Corn originating at Brown Seed Genetics (BSG) back in the 1990’s, Energy Plus (E+) Corn has been bred to increase the corn oil and protein content for specialized purposes in agriculture. What To Expect in your Crop
Energy Plus (E+) Corn genetics blended into your seed will boost the corn oil content of the whole field. The pollinator will increase the oil percentage. Since it’s a blend, a percentage of the plants in the field will have different plant structures. It will be a shorter plant type and will work well in all row widths when planted. When you buy Energy Plus Corn from one of the licensed growers, they typically mix one unit of the Energy Plus Corn with three of their hybrid corn varieties (1:3 Mix Ratio). The corn blend comes from the growers already pre-blended for planting. The logic is that the traits from the Energy Plus Corn will fertilize the hybrid corn the growers provide, transferring the high oil traits into the overall crop! This proven method called “Side Kick Blending Method™”, is already proven in the field.
